Our knowledge and experience of specific industries helps us understand the unique challenges companies face in their marketplace. From special equipment to unique operational procedures, Kelias Logistics provides the expertise and flexibility to overcome any logistical challenge.

The following cases studies demonstrate how Kelias Logistics works with clients to meet their needs:

CASE STUDY 1: Leading High-Tech Manufacturer

Logistics Problem: This client manufactures high-end, high-value scientific equipment for use in academic, government and corporate research laboratories. Deliveries to the end-user involve multiple pieces of freight, often oversized and with sensitive handling requirements, coming from different locations both within and outside the US.  Being able to merge-in-transit the disparate pieces of these large customer orders to deliver as one order to the customer -  within a tight delivery window - presents a major challenge. In addition, on most occasions the end user is a doctor or researcher with limited knowledge of over-sized freight delivery requirements and the facilities are often not equipped to handle these large sensitive deliveries. The confirmation of site readiness, end user compliance, and securing specialty equipment (drop deck trailers, forklifts, extra labor, etc) for delivery was a major obstacle to a successful delivery. Under the customer’s former transport arrangement with various van lines and LTL carriers, the proper coordination was virtually impossible.

Kelias Logistics’ Solution: Before moving any freight, Kelias Logistics team members became intimately familiar with the customer’s products and their special shipping needs. Early on, Kelias also established communications and controls protocol to become the central point of information on all major customer shipments, reducing the failure rate and making the process vastly easier for the customer.  Prior to shipping, Kelias Logistics secures the product by consolidating all items for each shipment in secure warehouses.  We call the end user to coordinate delivery, manage a site survey to determine delivery feasibility, pre-select the proper equipment for delivery, and schedule a precise delivery time that meets the customer’s requirements. Kelias Logistics also provides proactive reporting and problem solving for site readiness and/or other issues related to the completion of the delivery. Upon delivery, Kelias reports on the completion of the shipment to the customer and provides detailed reporting on all aspects of the project.

CASE STUDY 2: Major Retailer

Logistics Problem: Our client is opening new stores in outlet malls around the U.S. They were formerly using LTL carriers to handle their deliveries. These carriers delivered in a seven to ten day time frame, on a non-scheduled basis, and did not perform inside deliveries. The LTL carrier simply dropped the freight at the back door, without notice, usually during store hours, leaving the inside distribution to the retailer.

Kelias Logistics’ Solution: Kelias Logistics manages store deliveries by alerting the retail outlets of the inbound product and the number of cartons in the delivery. We manage the retailer’s inventory so that individual product type does not exceed the store’s capacities. Kelias Logistics’ monitoring guarantees that the retailer will only receive the maximum quantity it can accommodate, regardless of what was shipped by the customer’s distribution center. Kelias Logistics notifies the retailer before each scheduled delivery to ensure personnel are on hand to properly receive the product, and manages the deliveries with the proper equipment (lift gate, pallet jack, etc.) at a specific time as required.  Kelias Logistics then provides a report via a "proactive response form" to the distribution center, store directors and the corporate offices. In all, this service allows retail personnel to stock the store properly and efficiently at convenient times that guarantee minimal disruptions to the retail operations.
